Server communication features, such as Modbus Connectivity are licensed components. Without an activated license the component provides a demo period for working in the full-featured mode and/or a version with limited functionality. Details can be found in the "Licensing" section for the corresponding component. A license must be purchased for each physical device that hosts the server. It is linked to the device using the Device ID, which is generated using a special procedure.
Our licensing policy refers to different types of licenses for hardware platforms x86/x64 and ARM, in other words, we have licenses Modbus Connectivity for x86/x64 and Modbus Connectivity for ARM. When you purchase a license for x86 / x64 platforms, you receive +1 emergency license (you can request more information about this at email@example.com). For ARM we offer cheaper licenses than for x86 / x64 platforms, since we are trying to make the Monokot OPC Server more easily available for embedded devices, the Internet of Things (IoT) and so on. Licenses shall not be transferred from one device to another; if after activating the license the device (or its components) malfunctions, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Installing a License via the Monokot Server Administrator
First, you need to obtain the Device ID for the server on which you want to install the license. To do this, open the required connection in Connection Explorer and double-click on General .
Go to the Licenses tab, click on Save Device ID As... button and select the path and the file name; that way you will save the Device ID of the target server to your computer.
In the top menu, select Tools → Activation Wizard, and the license activation wizard will open. Follow all of the steps listed by the the activation wizard. Upon completion of the activation process, you will receive an e-mail (within 10–15 minutes) with the license file. Save it to your computer.
On the Licenses tab, click on Upload License(s)... . A window for uploading the license file to the server will open.
Click on the Browse... button, select the license file, click on the Upload button and wait until the file is uploaded. To complete the licensing process, restart the server (service in Windows, daemon in Linux, etc.).
